It was a pity so few people turned up for the walk on Sunday March 2nd. It was a perfect spring afternoon. The Downs were beautifully clear and there was a good view from the top of the Trundle Hill before dropping down to Singleton. Here we had a look round the old Norman Church and had our lunch by the village duck pond.
Landlords do not encourage ramblers to picnic in their gardens but do not object to you entering their pub as long as your boots are not muddy and you buy their wares. This seems to be the general trend now and so we can no longer expect much welcome from them in future. After a good pull up the hill to join the racecourse again we were soon at the car park having had the pleasure of our first taste of spring.
The next ramble will have to wait until Sunday May 4th as all April Sundays are booked. Details nearer the time.
