'Here I am, since you called me.' - 1 Samuel 3.8
Here I am, Lord,
alone, in the long
silence,
listening,
listening and looking,
seeing your gift in the
tiny weeds
pushing through cracks in stones,
and in the great
trees;
catching the echo of your voice
in the waving wind;
listening
for the Spirit within.
I hear, in the silence,
the cry of all the
afflicted,
the tiny moan of the unborn,
the pain, the pity,
the
yearning aspirations of unnumbered hearts
and their joys.
There they all
are, Lord.
I bring them to you,
lift them in hands that labour
and
that pray,
hands that are frail and have no strength,
but a burning
desire to help,
to heal, to comfort,
to bring them all to you,
adoring
and praising,
and to see with them your face.
'Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.' 1 Samuel 3.9
