ST GEORGE'S YOUTH CLUB

asks:

Have you ever bowled a maiden over?

Can you stand up to a googlie?

Have you ever been out with a duck? (sorry should read 'for' not 'with')

If the answer to any of the above is Yes then you are just the person we are looking for. On the afternoon of Saturday 5th July the Youth Club will be holding its annual cricket match. For the last two years this has been a game played by members and their parents for the valued prize of the St George's Ashes (will Jane RO's team hold them for a third year?). This year we would like to open the event to all the congregation. Even if you do not feel like playing, we would like to invite you along to watch. The match will commence at 2.pm and will take place at Bartons Green Recreation Ground in West Leigh. We have been able to secure the services of someone to keep score and two totally independent referees (yes, we know the term is umpire, but the way we have played for the last two years we think the term referee is more appropriate) - we have even told them the correct date this year!! To help the afternoon go nicely, tea will be served during the interval. Any contributions of the odd sandwich (or even the not so odd one) or cake will be more than welcome. I would suggest that you may like to bring a folding chair so that you can have a snooze while you are not fielding.

Please let me or Tony Rice-Oxley know if you would like to play and get out there and start practising now - your reputations are on the line. Remember, even if you are not playing, we would love to see you there and look forward to your support. We will issue a further note with a map of the venue nearer the date.
