Searching through Parish accounts I have established that the exact cost of the organ refurbishment was £7572.70. Fund raising and donations during 1996 totalled £1427.21 and up until the end of July 1997 £1653.38, including £95.53 from the It's a Knockout event.
Cassette sales have only just recouped the £310 net production costs. Back in February the P.C.C. decided that monies held in a separate CBF Deposit account fund for the organ should be used against the deficit on general funds thus adding a further £892.24 to the total raised so far of £3972.83. I can therefore confirm Mark Dancer's statement at his presentation that we are just over half way towards our target. Only £3599.87 to go!
The additions and adjustments to the Loop System during 1997 have cost a further £834 but a surplus of £123 donation over cost carried forward from 1996, together with a recent generous donation of £360 from the St George's Ladies Group has left a balance of only £351 to be taken from general church funds.
The retiring collection for the Portsmouth Samaritans during June raised £122.26 and the Seaman's Mission in July £123.28. The total cost of the Baptism & Marriage Booklets of £372 was met entirely by donation. As the magazine goes to print ticket sales for the Elizabeth Bainbridge recital in aid of the organ fund have exceeded £250. Exact figures in the next publication and some details about the cost of running our church in future issues.
This month's gentle reminder is that all cheques in connection with any church business should be made payable to PCC St George's please, not me or the Vicar!
