With all the hustle and bustle of Christmas our churches too were busy with the preparations for the great day, yet like the world, the New Year arrives, Christmas gone and all the extra friendship gone. We settle to keep or break our resolutions, to give up, to start up, to be better, more loyal etc. etc. etc., yet because of the prejudice of so many, even amongst Christ's own people, we condone loneliness because some are different, colour, class, creed, sexuality, a different way of life. There are those who, after sharing our communion (we dare to take His Body, His Blood), yet cannot forgive our fellow men.
It must never be forgotten that each individual is a brother / sister, for whom Christ died, and in His graciousness, we are all welcome at His table.
There are those who leave the service lonely, left out, not part of our Community. The saying goes, if we talk the talk we must walk the walk, we cannot claim to be a Christian, to be forgiven, if we will not forgive.
My prayer for His Church in this New Year is Father, make me worthy of forgiveness.
