As the magazine goes to print I am away on holiday and consequently this month's information is not as up to date as usual, but nevertheless there is plenty to report.
The overall net profit from the Fête on 15th May has risen to £1,593.56 (£100 less than last year) thanks to some additional donations from non-attenders and late sales. This figure takes into account expenses of £40 for the Bouncy Castle and £45 for printing of raffle tickets.
The retiring collection during May for Christian Aid together with envelopes left with the collection plate raised £220.75 and the door to door collection a further £190. Donations for the Betty Keyte memorial stone in the churchyard reached £97.50 towards the cost of £139.
The PCC is paying the expenses for two representatives to attend an Alpha Leaders Course and the initial cost of the course itself totals £60. Our stock of wine and candles has recently been replenished at a cost of £220.20 met from the Eucharist Gift donations.
The price of the planned giving envelopes for the 1999/2000 year has risen to £129.97 due to the fact Customs and Excise have ruled that zero rated VAT now only applies to envelopes for welfare charities and not church planned giving schemes. And finally thanks are once again due to John Millard our Honorary Recorder for obtaining so promptly our tax refund for the 1998/99 tax year amounting to the splendid sum of £3481.97, an increase of £413 over the previous year. This again proves how worthwhile it is to regularly increase and covenant your giving wherever possible.
