OCTOBER RAMBLE

Ramblers taking a rest

Once again the first date had to be cancelled due to wet weather, but the following Sunday was fine so off we went. Fourteen of us arrived for the start including Fr Malcolm outside the Old House at Home public house in Chidham. Only one of our younger walkers came, Rachel who was a bit slow at the start but then took the lead with most of us struggling to keep up with her. Following the coastline round to the point where we had our lunch break, the going was a little muddy underfoot in places, but not too bad considering the rain we had the previous week.

It was very pleasant sitting in the sun for our lunch break watching sea, boats and birds, but no aerial display by a spitfire which we were lucky enough to have the last time we did that walk. Hunger tamed and photos taken, we set off for the last three miles, the views of Bosham and coastline were very clear and attractive.

Turning inland passing several thatched cottages and houses all with beautiful views across the estuary. Just before we got back to the start there was a small farm selling duck and chicken eggs which some walkers decided to buy, the rest of us carried on and left them to catch up at the car park. Everyone enjoyed the walk.
