MOTHERS’ UNION NEWS

Our meetings in June were both spent out and about. On 7th, a number were able to enjoy a very good dinner at the Chairmakers Arms at Worldsend where we found much to talk about as we exchanged news; then on Thursday 21st fourteen members spent a very happy afternoon at Hamble.

We first visited the church of St Andrew-Le-Rice where we much admired the tapestries which today's church members had made in thanksgiving for the long line of worshippers who had lived and worked at Hamble.

After this a boat trip on the River Hamble was enjoyed by all - including John and Janet's dog - after first refreshing ourselves with ice creams and cups of tea.

Then to the Compass Point Café where the owners made us most welcome with sandwiches, tea and cream scones.

On 20th September we hope to welcome two MU members from Africa, who are here for the 125th Celebrations of the Mothers' Union - Mrs Esther Ogunleye from West Lagos diocese and Mrs Maria Olubajo from Egba diocese. We plan to join with other branches from Havant deanery to give them lunch in the hall, followed by a service in church of the Eucharist. This will be a commitment to continue the work of Christian Concern for families world wide.

We would like to invite everyone to this service - 2.15.pm in St George's Church.
