I could not bypass the book that I have chosen for September for obvious reasons. 'George and The Dragon' by Chris Wormell is a different but charming version to that which we know. George is not a fearless soldier but... A mouse! Aimed probably more at the under five's but with potential for wide appeal, the story reveals that the dragon - huge, awesome, frightening, has a phobia, a small phobia: he is terrified of mice! Lavishly illustrated throughout and with a wonderfully surprising twist that ends happily. George and the Dragon by Chris Wormwell (Jonathan Cape). ISBN 0-224-04769-8. LYNN WINTER |
