The Ladies Group got off to a lively start when we were entertained by the Southsea Reel Club to a display of Scottish dancing. Four ladies and four gentlemen in traditional Scottish dress showed us many kinds of dances, some quite sedate and some fast. Members of the audience were invited to participate in some of the dances, thankfully some of the less complicated ones, ending with the Gay Gordons. We were amazed at the stamina of the dancers, some of us were exhausted after taking part in just a few dances. We all had a rest when one of the dancers delighted us with some amusing poems he had written himself. It was a lovely evening and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. MARGARET DEAL |
