YOUTH CLUB

It was gratifying not to lose a single member over the Summer break, and we had four new members join, (Abbie, Melissa, James and Gareth) all of them on moving from Hart Plain Junior School to their new Secondary schools. They have all settled in very quickly and are now seasoned members of the club. This brings our numbers up to 21 which is about as many as we can handle, with the existing diverse programme which we offer. Many more and we would encounter problems in transport, and special away holidays which we offer.

Sadly of course there is no Link Group for the older members to move on to, so we are tending to keep members beyond the age of 16, though we do try to offer them more responsible roles within the club.

This term is made up of many of our old favourite activities (Games, 10 pin bowling, cooking, craft, Murder etc) but many members also supported our Taizé evening, and the Barn Dance, and then turned up for the Sunday Family Eucharist to round off a four consecutive days stint. I think the new ones wondered just what they were into!

Eighteen members also supported the One World Week event at Horndean with several taking part.

With so many members we are becoming more and more dependant upon parents to help with transport. Jane and Tony are away quite a bit during the Christmas and Easter terms and they, Jane and Sandra would like to thank all parents, particularly the Spurgeons (who when buying a replacement car recently chose a large people mover to be able to assist in Youth Club transport - what dedication!!) and the Williams' who regularly turn out to help.
