On the front cover of the recent edition of Pompey Chimes (March issue) is a photo of The Rev. Barry Dugmore, curate of St Wilfrid's, Cowplain. Barry has left his parish in order to spend three months at St Nicholas Theological College, Cape Coast. Later a Ghanaian ordinand will come and spend some time in this diocese, as an exchange. As one of the IDWAL party who will be visiting this Seminary on June 17th, I have been asked to raise money for books for the library. (This is additional of my travel and accommodation costs, which I have already paid in full). We are each expected to provide at least one new book. If you feel able to make a contribution to this book fund I should be most grateful. I have yet to pay for transport from the Church of the Holy Redeemer, Agona Kwangako, Cape Coast Diocese (our MU branch linked parish) to St Mary Axim in the Sekondi Diocese. The MU Diocesan President Cape Coast Diocese has persuaded the Diocesan President in Sekondi Diocese to kindly provide me with accommodation overnight (June 19th) to enable me to make this visit to St George's linked parish. I hope to bring back pictures of the newly restored church roof, as well as photos of some of the congregation. Ideas for a suitable gift for St Mary Axim would be appreciated. MARGARET SYMONDS |
