BOOK CORNER

As previously reported, I was kindly sent a complimentary copy of "The Kentle-Shaddy in Felmunia" by the author, E. M. Mohr. This is the sequel to "The Kentle-Shaddy Knows Something" reviewed previously.

The book helpfully commences with a resumé of the two previous titles, "The Kentle-Shaddy" and "The Kentle-Shaddy Knows Something". In the latter book, Kwai, The Kentle-Shaddy, Ezra and Julia visit a country called Wozteria, in the Middle East.

From there they find themselves in an unexpected place. The Kentle-Shaddy wants to improve conditions for some young workers from Asia who are treated very badly. Although their mission meets with some success, they are told that they must return home. Despite the danger, the Kentle-Shaddy decides to stay on and persuade the two worst people, Sutramon and his sister, Satalak, to change their ways.

So "The Kentle-Shaddy in Felmunia" opens with Kwai, Julia and Ezra back on Kwai's island. It is the autumn half term. The friends' shock over the experience of intruders in Kwai's house turns to hope when they learn that another visit to Wozteria is possible in the Christmas holiday. Their thoughts naturally turn to how they can find and help the Kentle-Shaddy.

The Kentle-Shaddy learns that he will need special apparatus with him on Felmunia to keep his life support functioning. Meanwhile on Felmunia Sutramon is preparing to 'welcome' him....

Once again, this is a delightful and enjoyable Christian (in the proper sense of the word) novel. It is unusual without relying upon gimmicks. If you are concerned at the interest in spells and the like which are appearing in book form quite frequently, consider this title (and indeed the whole trilogy) as a safe and worthy read.

Warmly recommended.
