Make a wish

This year the Sunday School at St George's decided to support the Make a Wish charity which aims to make the wishes of 8 to 18 year old children, with life threatening illnesses, come true. Julia decided that our main fundraising event would be a sponsored swim. She left it to each of us to decide how far we would swim and to get sponsors for it. Kaylie and I decided that as we had already done 100 lengths for Comic Relief about three years ago we would aim for 150 lengths of Waterlooville Swimming Pool which is just under 2½ miles. On Sunday 22nd May we got to the pool ready to start swimming at 12.45.pm. Luckily there were two lanes roped off for faster swimmers so we went in there and for part of the time were the only two in there and we alternated from two lengths front crawl to two lengths of breaststroke so our arms didn't get too tired! My Mum sat in the spectator seats and counted off every length for us. The last few lengths were pretty hard going but we were determined to finish it, which we did in 2¼ hours at 3.pm. We hope to have raised over £300 between us. The picture shows Kaylie and I looking pretty exhausted at the end of the swim!
