There is not a lot to report this month as things have been very much in abeyance during the summer period and the PCC do not meet with our new Vicar until September 27th just before this edition of the magazine is due for publication. Our young people at St George's raised a magnificent £502.50 for the Make a Wish Foundation, a charity who arrange special events for children between the ages of 8 and 18 with a life threatening illness, and make their wishes come true. The money was mainly raised by a sponsored swim and is in addition to £100 sent directly to the charity. The coffee morning held for the Children's Society on August 14th raised £173.38 and the retiring collection for the Rowans Hospice during August totalled £194.92, (both sums include gift aided contributions). Recent income has included the April to June tax rebate of £1,929.37 due under the gift aid system, interest of £39.40 on investments and votive candle sales of £119.70. Smarties tubes for upkeep of the churchyard continue to be filled adding another £14.95 to funds during recent weeks. Linda Wainwright |
