PCC Matters

The PCC has met twice with Fr Mike in the chair. On the first occasion, Monday 27th September, the business meeting was held at The Vicarage and we were invited to stay afterwards for wine and nibbles - most enjoyable, and many thanks to Linda and Mike for their hospitality. The PCC agreed on certain procedural matters: that it would initially meet monthly to clear the backlog of items for discussion; that the meetings would rotate around Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; that the aim would be for meetings to end at 9.30.pm; and that there would be no Any Other Business unless unavoidable. The PCC agreed with Fr Mike's suggestion that, in addition to the monthly Evensong, a different style of service - Devotions and Expositions as well as, periodically, a Taizé service - be offered on another Sunday in the month.

The second meeting was on Tuesday 19th October when the updating of notice boards around the church as well as church stationery and publications was discussed (and will feature again at our next meeting). Fr Mike suggested holding the Parish Office in church after the Parish Eucharist and will invite volunteers from the congregation to assist. He suggested also holding a second weekday Eucharist on Fridays at 12 noon. The PCC supported both these suggestions. The PCC responded warmly also to the suggestion from the Bishop and the Archdeacon that Fr Ray Chapman join St George's as part-time Assistant Priest. By the time this is published he will already be ministering here. Welcome back, Fr Ray.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 17th November 2004.

Copies of the full minutes are displayed at the back of church.
