Despite the wintry weather throughout the charity shop week, 21st to 26th February, a magnificent £1,801.86 was raised thanks to the efforts of Jane, Tony, Anna and a team of helpers and everyone who donated goods to sell. This is a great boost to general church funds. Bulb sales have risen to £790 for the year so far and magazine sales including many copies paid for in advance for the whole year stand at £318. Further votive candle sales exceeded £78. Payments have included coloured copier paper £81.49, candles £35.94, a second hand computer £64.95, sponsorship of a young organ scholar who practises at St Georges £20, and a further 1000 pink gift aid envelopes £34.12. The annual Southern Water charge for the new vicarage is £394 and will be paid by direct debit instalments. You will remember our young people raised over £500 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. I reproduce below a follow up thank you letter prompted by the family who benefited from that fund raising. Linda Wainwright Dear Linda You very kindly raised money for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK and helped to sponsor a wish for Adam, aged 14, who lives with Tricuspid Atresia, in Chichester, with his parents and brothers and sisters. I am just writing to update you on Adam's wish. Adam wished to go on a cruise somewhere warm. We arranged for him and his family to have a cruise around the Canary Islands. Once they were all on board the Aurora, they set off on their search for the sun! On their cruise they were able to take advantage of all the facilities on board the ship and the weather was wonderful. During their trip they had a chance to visit some of the islands and sample the local dishes. The holiday provided them all with some wonderful memories of Adam having a really good time. Adam and his family have asked me to thank everyone who helped with sponsoring his wish and to let you know that you have brought him lots of happiness. Thank you for helping us to turn Adam's wish into a reality. With best wishes Frances Heath |
