Annual Parochial Church Meeting

On April 17th, St George's Church celebrated its Patronal Festival, with a procession and hymns dedicated to our patron St George. Flags, made by members of the Youth Club, were waved by children during the Eucharistic Prayer. The service was followed by a Parish Lunch making the day a special occasion for all past and present Church members. Many thanks to the Social Committee for aranging the serving of an excellent meal! To round-off the day Evensong was sung in Church. As part of the day the Church held its Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Congratulations to Richard Spurgeon and Tony Rice-Oxley who were both elected to serve as Churchwardens. Adrienne Bridger and Margaret Symonds will represent the Church on Deanery Synod, and the following were elected to serve on the Parish Church Council: Dick Handy, Lesley Handy, Rosemary Monk, Adina Burton, Yvonne Jones, Sandra Hewett, Ian Long, Colin Monk and Anne Morgan. Jane Cook will be ratified as PCC Secretary at the first meeting as will Carol McKells as Treasurer.

Fr Mike expressed thanks to all the Church officers for their work and support over the last year and looked forward to working with those elected over the coming year. Special thanks were expressed to Jaye Warren and Linda Wainwright, both who stepped down from office at the Annual Meeting.
