Additional information on Easter Day Easter Day is worked out with reference to movement of a theoretical moon. This theoretical moon is supposed to keep more or less in step with the real moon. Easter day falls on the first Sunday that follows the paschal full moon. In this context, the paschal moon is the first full moon (of the theoretical moon) that occurs on or after the vernal equinox which is taken notionally to fall on 21st March. The earliest day of the year that Easter can occur is 22nd March. The last year this happened was in 1818, and the next year it will happen is 2285.
