Dear Editor Can you hear me? As a member of the congregation for Sung Eucharist on Sundays and Said Eucharist on Wednesdays my answer sadly too often would have to be “sometimes” or “only with great difculty” to the Reader, the Intercessor or the Priest who may ask me the above question. I know that other members of St George’s experience similar difculties hence those semi whispered asides such as: “What was that Fr Mike said in his introduction/Notices?” or “Who has died?” or “Why are we clapping Lynda?” Is anyone else in the same boat, or is it just me who nds the speaker/loop system inadequate? Do those who process words for others within our services need further training? Eric Dinneen Ed Note: Eric’s letter was much longer and the remainder has been formed into a small article elsewhere in this magazine. Churchwardens Note: The Company responsible for our system has been requested to attend to meet Eric and to see why the system is not working to his satisfaction. Dear Editor, Has anyone any idea why, in a congregation that sings as well as St George's, there are so few willing to join the choir? We practise once a week for an hour, hardly an onerous commitment. If we had a few more voice parts we would be able to sing a wider repertoire. Jane Rice-Oxley |
