15 names of things you never knew had names....

AGLET - The covering at the end of a shoelace.

BIBCOCK - a tap with a bent down nozzle.

BRASSARD - A cloth worn round the upper arm often bearing an identifying mark such as the swastika worn by the Nazis

BRETELLES - A pair of suspender like straps that go from the belt at the front of a dress over the shoulder to the belt at the back

DUFF - Decaying organic matter found on a forest floor

HARP - Small metal hoop that supports a lampshade

HEMIDEMISEMIQUAVER - a 64th note

KICK or PUNT - The indentation at the bottom of a bottle giving added strength to the bottle

PHOSPHENES - The lights you see when you close your eyes hard due to the excitation of the retina

PIGGIN - A small wooden pail with one long stave used as the carrying handle

QUARREL - A small diamond shaped glass used in lattice windows

SAM BROWN BELT - A leather belt for a dress uniform. It is supported by a light strap that passes over the right shoulder.

SOLIDUS - The oblique stroke (/) used between words or in fractions as in 7/8. It can also be called a diagonal, a separatrix, a virgule, a shilling, a slant or a slash.

TANG - The projecting prong on a tool or instrument.

ZARF - A holder for a handleless coffee cup.
