Here are a few suggestions for Advent and Christmas reading and giving. Know and Tell the Gospel by John Chapman. For most Christians, clearly explaining the Gospel is more a dream than a reality. John Chapman provides warm encouragement and practical information on evangelism for all Christians. True Grit by Deborah Meroff. Inspiring true adventures of nine ordinary women who are making a difference in such places as Tajikistan, India, Egypt and Lebanon. Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation by Adrian Plass. In this A to Z of the Christian Life, Adrian Plass combines one-line definitions with more thoughtful pieces to produce a volume that will make you laugh, cry and reflect. The Hands and Feet of Jesus by Clive Price. A book about how ordinary people tackle extraordinary challenges. All those here are involved with World Vision, they invite us to join them and to take a peek at their work and rejoice. The Promise of Christmas by Fleur Dorrell. These 25 short Bible based readings will help us prepare for the celebration of Christmas. They reflect on the biblical promises and prophecies that anticipate Christ’s coming and encourage us to pause in God’s presence in the midst of a busy season. Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Joyce’s all time best selling book shows us how those thoughts that damage and control us can be dealt with as we learn to refocus our minds to think the way Jesus thought. Divine by Karen Kingsbury. A great novel that introduces Mary Madison, a young woman society wanted to forget. Her life experiences created in her paralysing fear, faithlessness, addiction and promiscuity. Only one power set Mary free and gave her a lifetime of love and hope. Nativity Touch and Feel by Henning and Chapman. Helping children aged 3-5 learn about the events of the first Christmas in a new and exciting way, this touch-and-feel book shows what it would be like to touch an angel’s wings, stroke a lamb’s coat and more. So I Could Fly Free by Jonathan Lee. A charming story in rhyme about a bird wanting to fly free from a cage. He discovers that Jesus can set all of us free. Ideal for 3 to 6 year olds, the book includes a cutout badge, life applications and a memory verse. Trusting God by Carine MacKenzie. Carine has taken seven of God’s names to explain them for children aged 7-11 years. Using a Bible story she shows how God’s name is still relevant to us today. Children will be fascinated by these new words. All titles taken from the latest ‘Select’ magazine from ‘j.source’, The Beacon, 69-73 Meridian Centre, Havant, Hampshire, PO9 1UN.
