O cursed wood of Eden
Who brought reproach and shame
Through Eve and Adam’s falling
And gave the men ill name.
We led the life of sinners
Until the time was right
When God in his compassion
Sent Christ his Son as light.
Now Christ was the obedient
The only Son of God
He did as Father asked him
’Cause He was the true Word.
Now Christ was hung to die
On wood of sin and shame
This wood now has the power
To change who believe in his name.
