The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville
The Film Club choice for 11th August was Some Like it Hot with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and the very beautiful Marilyn Monro. This proved to be an hilarious comedy which started with a ‘cops and gangsters’ chase and shoot out and continued at furious pace till our heroes/heroines (if you’ve seen the film you’ll know what I mean!) sailed off into the credits.
On Wednesday 8th September the film was Pretty Woman, a romantic tale of a “little lady of the night” who came for a week, won a millionaire’s heart and stayed for ever.
The next Film Club is on Wednesday 13th October, when the film to be shown is Gladiator starring Russell Crowe. The film won 5 Academy Awards. The November film club is on Wednesday 10th.
