The wooden floorboards of the Speight's Ale House in Greymouth, South Island, are adorned with quotes to make you smile. Here are just two of them. The Ale House is in a former government building near the railway station at the western end of the Tranzalpine Railway. It is an impressive stone building and has been decorated with beer and brewing paraphernalia. George's Men would love it! As well as serving Speight's beer from Dunedin in competition with the Greymouth based Monteith's, they serve the famous whitebait patties. We enjoyed them so much we ate there twice!
