St George’s Film Club

Question: What do the following films have in common?

Australia

Becoming Jane

Mrs Doubtfire

Charlotte Gray

Billy Elliot

Brief Encounter

Gone with the wind

Iris

Mama Mia

The Italian Job

Answer: They were all shown at The St George’s Film Club afternoons during 2009.  The sad part is that the number of supporters of this venture has remained at a constant low.

This is quite hard to explain as the cost (a miserly £1) includes half time refreshments with a chance to chat and an opportunity to vote on next month’s film. If a film is sufficiently popular we will buy it for the club.

So why not come along and try it sometime. The cost for a casual visitor is £2 whereas a member pays just £5 up front in January and thereafter £1 per afternoon.  The film and details are always advertised on the hall noticeboard 2 weeks in advance.

We would like to be able to purchase some better equipment in due course but currently the numbers and income does not warrant this. However if we have greater support this may become possible.
