Rod on the occasion of his 85th birthday, with a magnificent birthday cake depicting highlights of his varied life, from working with film makers Metro Goldwyn Mayer, service with the RAF, a policeman (rising to rank of Superintendent), and a lecturer at Portsmouth Polytechnic (now Portsmouth University), collecting on the way degrees and qualifications in a wide range of subjects including in Sociology, Law, Bookkeeping and Music. As well as regularly contributing articles to St George’s News and  designing the front covers, he is an expert in Calligraphy and continues to teach the subject.
