The Parish Church of St George the Martyr, Waterlooville
Autumn 2015
Monday 10th August
On a wet afternoon, six of us, in two cars went to the Mary Sumner Day Service at St Cuthberts, Copnor.
We were warmly welcomed at the door, and there was time for a quick look around before the service began.
This very interesting church is a combination of old and new, with its very high roof, brick walls, beautiful tapestry depicting the last supper and a most striking, modern and I thought lovely blue font.
The service was conducted by the Rev Carol Gully and the address given by the Rev Beryl Rundle.
The hymns were sung without organ accompaniment with some variations of tunes, which however we sang, merging them together quite happily.
Afterwards in true MU tradition we had afternoon tea, with sandwiches, cakes, and strawberries and cream.
