Christian Aid Fair Trade Scripture Cake
Oven set to Gas 3 or 160°C (325°F)
Cream together:
8.oz butter (Judges 5:25)
8.oz Traidcraft brown sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
1 tbs honey (Samuel 14:25)
Mix in:
3 beaten size 3 eggs (Jeremiah 17:11)
Fold in:
8 oz. Traidcraft raisins (1 Samuel 30:12)
plus 4 oz. sultanas
8 oz dried, chopped figs (Nahum 3:12)
and 2 oz ground almonds (Numbers 17:8)
Sift together:
14½ oz plain flour (1 Kings 4:22)
1 level tsp mixed spice (2 Chronicles 9:9)
1 pinch salt (Leviticus 2:13)
1 heaped tsp baking powder (Amos 4:5)
folding into the original mixture with
4 tbs milk (Judges 4:19)
Turn into a 9 inch cake tin and bake for 1½ to 2 hours.
Why not bake several cakes and sell them to raise funds for Christian Aid?
