She is a versatile, highly trained vocalist with a 2:1 Degree in Popular Music and has worked to complete Grade VIII vocal examinations with ABRSM and Trinity College London.

When she isn’t teaching Rachel can sometimes be found performing on P&O cruise ships, she was selected as guest vocalist for the P&O ‘Britannia’ Maiden season.

WINCHESTER FLUTE CHOIR

Winchester Flute Choir is a flute ensemble of piccolo, flute, alto and bass flutes, based in the Chapel of the University of Winchester.

Musical Director of Winchester Flue Choir: Sarah Craven

Sarah Craven is a Flute teacher and freelance musician who works in the Winchester and Petersfield Areas.

Sarah grew up in Leicestershire area and was lucky enough to be a member of the Leicestershire County Schools Flute Choir run by Russell Parry who is an inspirational arranger of Flute choir music. She was also a member of the National Scout and Guide Concert Band and the National Youth Concert Band which led to a love of the Wind Band Genre. Something she still enjoys today is playing as principal flute for Meridian Winds.

Sarah then went on to graduate with a music degree from Cardiff University.

Sarah is currently teaching at Amesbury School, Hindhead. Highfield and Brookham schools, Liphook. At the University of Winchester she runs flute choir ensembles.  In all the various teaching settings Sarah believes that Flute players are generally social creatures who love to get together and that making music in ensembles improves not only her students musical skills but also builds confidence and team work.
