HORNDEAN BAND

Musical director: Phil Evans Bmus (Hons) LRSM

Royal Albert Hall

The Horndean Band is a Military styled concert and parade band which was established 44 years ago.

The band consists of around 40 instrumentalists, and also boasts its own Corps of Drums.

More usually performing as a marching band, here is a golden opportunity to enjoy this hugely talented band in concert.

In addition to performing well known, rousing military pieces, the Band has a repertoire which includes popular film music, jazz arrangements, and light classical music.

Music Director: Phil Evans BMus (Hons) LRSM

Phil Evans was appointed Music Director of Horndean Band in January 2019 after holding the position of the Director of Music at Valley Forge Military Academy & College, Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA for eleven years.  During his tenure at Valley Forge, Phil studied composition and arranging with Johan de Meij and conducting with Dr. Harlan Parker.  Prior to the position of Director of Music at Valley Forge, Phil was a member of the Band of HM Royal Marines for 24 years where he was a flautist and saxophonist before becoming the Bandmaster of the ‘Royal Band’ in Portsmouth.  Before moving to the USA Phil was the director of Horndean Band from 2004 to 2006.
