Portsdown Christmas Tea Party
On 1st December five of us, in two cars, went to Christchurch Portsdown. We had been invited to their Mothers’ Union branch’s Christmas Tea Party, held in their church hall.
As always we were made most welcome and this year were entertained by Pompey Pluckers who played and sang, with us joining in some of the carols.
We had a lovely tea, and a very pleasant time there.
Advent Miscellany
The December meeting was our Advent Miscellany and this year we used a “Jesse Tree” again and hung wooden decorations in illustrative shapes onto its branches. We had readings and carols and a short demonstration on making Christmas boxes. Then tea with warm mince pies and slices of Eileen’s delicious birthday cake.
Epiphany Party
There were twenty four ladies at this, our banch members and invited guests. After our opening worship we had a “handbag treasure hunt” which saw us “rummaging” for varied items including bus passes and earrings. This was followed by a Christmas and Epiphany themed quiz which proved somewhat harder.
Then it was time for tea, laid out buffet style at one end of the hall.
We finished with draw tickets for wrapped presents which had been provided by members at the Advent Miscellany.
A really nice afternoon.
