Mothers’ Union Notes

We had our Advent Miscellany on December 20th, we were quality not quantity as some of our members were away but we were in good spirits as we celebrated Eileen’s 97th birthday, this amazing lady helped put the chairs away at the end of the meeting.

We had been asked to bring a piece to share with the group, this was the first time I really missed Pam because she always had a lovely poem or story to share with us.

I brought along the Travelling Nativity that our member Sue Andrews knitted for the parish, this year we needed new books of the Nativity story, two were borrowed from the MU shop with the view to picking one, I couldn’t choose! Our book keeper very kindly bought us both of them. I read one of the stories to the group, it’s called Follow the Star.

Everyone who gives shelter to the Travelling Nativity is given an angel, we have named our one Pam, we hang it on our cross at our meetings.

We enjoyed coffee and walnut cake for Eileen’s birthday.

The Holy family visited us on their journey to Bethlehem

Due to our much depleted numbers we felt, sadly, unable to entertain guests as we usually do, at our Epiphany Party this year.

After prayers, a humorous poem and Notices, the seven ladies present enjoyed a quiz on Christmas and Epiphany Carols, two Pass the Parcels, followed by a tea of savouries and cakes. Each member had brought a wrapped gift which we distributed between the group.
