I know it seems to be a long time ago that you all gave me a voucher for Afternoon Tea at The Burley Manor when I resigned as Treasurer, but I have finally managed to enjoy the experience.
When we arrived at the hotel on a cold Saturday afternoon we were greeted by a field of deer. They were so close you could almost touch them and obviously were not worried in the least with humans being around. As we entered the main entrance there was a roaring wood fire and we were shown to our table with armchairs and a view of another fire. It as very warm and cosy.
The Afternoon Tea arrived and we had salmon sandwiches, ham and mustard sandwiches, cheese scone and tomato and mozzarella tartlets. This was followed by my favourite part, the sweet bits. Carrot cake, chocolate torte and my absolute favourite, lemon drizzle cake all finished off with fruit and plain scone with jam and clotted cream. Of course, there was also a large variety of teas and coffee.
Both Lee and I had a very enjoyable afternoon and I am very grateful that I got to use my voucher as it had to keep being delayed due to the pandemic, but was worth the wait.
Thank you.
